Xorki (Spell): …
Medieval Greek word derived from “exorcine” an exorcise (retro formation) word or phrase that is thought to drive away evil spirits.
A spell can be a prayer, a heartfelt desire, or an amulet. It can take any form and serve any purpose: to invite love, strengthen bonds, heal wounds, invite success and wealth, or bring good luck. Greece has always been a place of brilliance, strength, durability, and resilience. Greek women embody these qualities-bright, strong, resilient, and rugged-upholding their families and homes through traditions, customs, and beliefs. They spit out evil and move forward.
The Greek woman, weaving, kneading, cultivating, and reaping, was the source of my inspiration. The Greek textile and the Greek amulet shaped my collections. These forms reflect and unfold the thread of her feminine status from antiquity to the present day. Through my work, I aim to capture the essence of these remarkable women and their enduring legacy.
